Rocketry

The 1998 UKRA event was held at the Thrust club's launch site, Garlands Shooting Ground. Unfortuently for me, my parents decided that they were going to visit me on the same weekend, they were going to France on holiday. Luckily I managed to persuade them that taking me on the Saturday would be a "good family day out"...

I can't remeber when we arrived at Garlands, but the weather was overcast with quite a strong breeze, so it didn't look too good for flying. I'd never been to an organised launch before and didn't know what to expect, so after wandering around for a while, I went and registered and joined the UKRA.

We hadn't been there long when they started to fly some bigger rockets, I'd never seen a rocket fly on anything bigger than a D before. Well, what can you say, I want to fly big rockets, very big rockets.

We stayed long enough for me to fly my Estes Phoenix and my Estes Black Brant II and also to watch numerous rockets being flown. There is also a rather good report on the Thrust website.
