Chris Key's Level 1 attempt. This was the first THRUST club lanuch that I've ever made, though it's not from want of trying. I fully intended to go to a couple in the earlier half of 1999, but every Saturday night before a launch I ended up in a state that left me unfit to drive the next day. Since it's a two hours drive from Cambridge there was no chance I was even going to think about risking driving in such a state so I missed about 3 launches.

After that it was UKRA 2000 and then the IRW and K-Lob, so I didn't have the chance to get to a launch until the October one. I didn't get to fly anything at K-Lob so I still had a couple of motors to burn and this launch was the place to burn them at.

Steve's TomahawkSo I turned up at in between 12.30 and 13.00 with a couple of rockets and a roll of film in the camera. I didn't have any ignitors on me so thanks go out to Hugh Gemmell who I managed to pinch a couple from. Chris Key was doing his level 1 cert and because Hughg was the certification officer I had to wait for a while before I managed to get them from him.

The two motors I had from K-Lob were both 29mm H's and had both been preped at K-Lob so all I had to do was tighten the seals and add some black powder and they were ready to go. So I preped both rockets, set up my pad and waited until I got the chance to launch them.

While I was waiting Chris Key was succesful with his level 1 flight finally, it had only taken about 4 attempts due to bad waether. Darren Longhorn was also succesful with a level 1 flight which had also been postponed from K-Lob.

Eventually it was my turn to launch and I launched Certainty, my level 1 ceretification rocket, on an Aerotech H200 for yet another perfect flight. This rocket is slowly becoming my Duracell bunny of rockets, especially on this motor as out of it's 4 flights three of them have been on the H220 and only one on the H180. I can't wait for them to certify the I200 with a medium delay as this rocket will rock on that motor.
