Elite

I'm currently sitting in the Air Canada lounge at Calgary airport waiting on my flight back to the UK. I've been here for two weeks and I'm more than ready to get home and see Karen and Finlay. It'll be nice to sleep in my own bed and eat food I've prepared, I'm sick of Subway...

I got an email from Air Canada during the week informing me that I was being promoted to Elite status within their Aeroplan scheme (their version of Air Miles). This means I've been credited with over 35,000 miles and means I'm now entitled to certain benefits.

I get preferential check in, the luggage also gets a priority tag so it comes off first at the other end. I get the use of the air port lounge, so free beer and snacks and free wireless; hence me writing this. I also get to board the plane first, which will be nice as I then wont have any issues with getting my baggage stowed.

There are also some benefits that I have to choose, like free upgrade passes and the like. The only issue I have with getting to Elite status, is that I totally bypassed the Prestige level and I'm not sure if I'll get the choices from tat as well.

The real bummer of course, is that that I don't know if I'll be back to Calgary in the near future as the projects first phase is nearly done. We'll just have to wait and see how the project copes over the next month and see what happens. Until then, I'm making the most of this lounge...
