New Kitten

Karen and I got a phone call from the Vet's on Friday night saying that there was a kitten that needed re-homing, would we be interested. We had a bit of a think about it overnight and gave the supplied number a phone this morning. To cut a long story short, we've now got a 6½ week old female tortoise shell/white kitten. She is very grown up for her age and incredible cute, although the other two cats don't know what to make of her yet.

I've borrowed Tabitha's digital camera, so I should be able to post some photos of her soon.

Yoga

Did my first ever session of Yoga this evening and I must admit to being quite impressed. Karen's been doing it with our friend Sam for quite a while, but I decided that I'd like to have a go for myself. I'm currently feeling very relaxed and de-stressed and think that I'll definitely do it again. It will take a while to get used to the pace of the video and to adjust my body to the stretches, but I was quite happy with what I achived.

Durian

Karen cracked open the durian we bought on Friday, it was really stinking out the cupboard at the top of the stairs. I tried a small piece, it wasn't quite as revolting as I'd feared, but it was pretty awful! It was soft and squishy and looked light some bizarre internal organ gone wrong. It sorted of tasted like mild onion, but not, I can't quite describe it. I wont be rushing out to buy any more, certainly not since you don't get much for £5 a kilo.

Hungover

Went out for Karen’s birthday last night with a load of friends, I think we got home some time after 3 o’clock. All I know is that I’ve got a hangover and I’m supposed to be flying rockets over two hours ago. I think the veggie fry up we’ve just consumed might make a difference, but it’s going to be a struggle.

London calling...

It was Karen's birthday yesterday, so we went for a day trip to London to celebrate. We started off by going to the Natural History Museum, I really wanted to go and see the Earth galleries, but things conspired. We started of by looking at some of the primate and early human stuff and moved onto the dinosaur exhibition. The highlight of the day, for me, was then a trip into the BG Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, amazing.

We then went out for lunch, but because we didn't know where we were it took ages to find somewhere. After lunch Karen realised that we were on Kensington High Street, so we just had to go shopping in loads of trendy clothes shops. I caught sight of myself in a mirror in one of these awful places and realised that I really didn't belong there, so I went and stood outside.

We had to leave as we'd booked tickets for the London Eye, so we hot footed it to Westminster and got our tickets. There really wasn't a queue and we only had to wait about five minutes until we were ushered into one of the capsules. It took just over half an hour to get round and due to the nice weather, you got a really good view of the centre of London. I wish we'd bought a map though as I didn't have a clue what was what...

After we'd done the Eye we headed off to China town to find somewhere to eat. We ended up going round a couple of the Chinese Supermarkets, wow; I didn't even know what half the vegetables they were selling were. Karen bought some baby coconuts and a durian; I've never smelt anything so smelling in my whole entire life.

After a slap up Chinese meal we headed back to the station, but just missed our train home by a couple of minutes. So we had a pint in the pub while we waited and caught the last train home. All the way home the only thing I could smell was the durian, it reeks!

Football

Played football for the first time in eons last night and god do I feel it this morning! I ended up going over on my right ankle while cramping up in both calves. I'm so unfit it's untrue.

Tired

I feel very tired today, I'm lacking in energy, motivation and the will to live. Okay, maybe not the last one, but I really can't be arsed. My head feels like it's in cloud cuckoo land and I'm having a hell of a job concentrating on doing any work. I'm in one of those moods where only spending a wad of cash will brighten my mood, a very dangerous place to be.

Luckily I've so far managed to avoid splashing any cash, which is just as well as it's Karen's birthday on Friday and I need all my money for that. I'm not sure whey I'm in a mood like this, but it's really beginning to piss me off. I'm wondering if something I'm eating is having an adverse affect on me at the moment.

I pretty much gave up peanut butter sandwiches for breakfast and now have small amount of peanut butter on rice cakes instead. This hasn't really made any noticeable difference to me, so I'm thinking that maybe I need to get radical and start cutting stuff out my diet to see if that will improve things.

I've been feeling a bit on the fat side recently, which might be contributing to my mood, but I'm not sure. I know I've been drinking way too much beer over that last few months so maybe I just need to cut down on that and do a bit of exercise. I'm now toying with the idea of not drinking any alcohol after the weekend until we get to Malta at the end of May.

I think by cutting all the beer out it will significantly reduce the calories and the fuzzy feeling some mornings. Hopefully it will also lead to better sleep and thus less tiredness. It's all a bit unscientific I know, but I quite fancy trying it out just to see what happens.
