Another Death In The Family

Kamba, 2002 - 22nd June 2006, R.I.P.

I've just found out from Karen that Kamba was run over and killed last Thursday. Neither of us had seen him since last Wednesday and we were beginning to fear the worst. As I'm currently in Calgary, Karen put some flyers through the neighbours doors just in case he was stuck in someone's shed. One of the neighbours phoned her earlier and told her that he'd been kicked down last week and that someone else in the village had knocked on the door but got no answer.

I feel really terrible as the new house is on the main road through the village and our old house was no where near the main road, so none of our cats are used to a main road of any sort. I also feel bad as we haven't really paid all of the cats enough attention since moving to the new house as we've had a lot on our plates. I wish I could remember with clarity when I last gave him a hug and a stroke.

We got Kamba from Wood Green when he was only six or seven weeks old. He was so small he fitted into the palm of your hand and he was the cutest little thing ever. He grew up into a lovely cat, who was full of mischief and a bit over weight, he really did like his food and Kali's and Malamba's. He liked nothing better than snuggling up to you and having his belly rubbed, when he'd had enough he'd just sink his claws in and that was that.

I'll really miss the big man, he was such a great cat. I'm just really pissed off and angry that I didn't get to say goodbye. Like Makucha, I'll miss him more than I can describe here, he might be gone, but he won't ever be forgotten.
