It was Karen's birthday yesterday, so we went for a day trip to London to celebrate. We started off by going to the Natural History Museum, I really wanted to go and see the Earth galleries, but things conspired. We started of by looking at some of the primate and early human stuff and moved onto the dinosaur exhibition. The highlight of the day, for me, was then a trip into the BG Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, amazing.
We then went out for lunch, but because we didn't know where we were it took ages to find somewhere. After lunch Karen realised that we were on Kensington High Street, so we just had to go shopping in loads of trendy clothes shops. I caught sight of myself in a mirror in one of these awful places and realised that I really didn't belong there, so I went and stood outside.
We had to leave as we'd booked tickets for the London Eye, so we hot footed it to Westminster and got our tickets. There really wasn't a queue and we only had to wait about five minutes until we were ushered into one of the capsules. It took just over half an hour to get round and due to the nice weather, you got a really good view of the centre of London. I wish we'd bought a map though as I didn't have a clue what was what...
After we'd done the Eye we headed off to China town to find somewhere to eat. We ended up going round a couple of the Chinese Supermarkets, wow; I didn't even know what half the vegetables they were selling were. Karen bought some baby coconuts and a durian; I've never smelt anything so smelling in my whole entire life.
After a slap up Chinese meal we headed back to the station, but just missed our train home by a couple of minutes. So we had a pint in the pub while we waited and caught the last train home. All the way home the only thing I could smell was the durian, it reeks!
